Connecting Chords with Linear Harmony - Bert Ligon

i just bought the book "connecting chords with linear harmony", by bert ligon. is anyone familar with this book? i checked it out online and it claims to present "a study of three basic outlines used in jazz improv and composition, based on a study of hundreds of examples from great jazz artists". the reviews seem good.

has anyone read/used this book?

yes - i have used the book, and found it probably as useful as any i have used. it clearly presents his ideas supported by loads of real world musical examples from all the great improvisers. and, it seems to me, the theoretical basis of his ideas is soundly based (he has also written 2 large volumes on jazz theory which develop fully the ideas presented in this "connecting chords with linear harmony" book.)
while not being a book that deals with piano exclusively, it opened my eyes to new ways of conceiving a melodic line that directly contrasted with the aebersold 'here's a chord - play this scale/mode' method.
