well i did not get much done this year in fact i think i fell backwards a notch or two.  i salute 7 many times ... a model for us all to look up to.
but i am going to start this year out with an accomplistment right away and it is this:
i am going to re establish contact with a great teacher.  next friday, on the 8th i am going to get in my piece of junk car and make the 4 hour hike from cape cod massachuestts to manhattan nyc to the keith jarret master class being given by dave frank.  (see thread in this forum)
this will be quite an accomplishment to start the new year off with for several reasons.
1.)  well you would kind of have to know people from cape cod i guess.  cape cod is an island seperated from the main land by a man made canal called the cape cod canal.  so of course you have to go over a bridge to get off the island.  to get to boston for example which is only an hours drive away you have to drive over the bridge.
well cape codders are known for stubornly refusing to ever go over the bridge.  cape cod also has a reputation for having a history of many fine jazz musicians living here including the late dave mckenna.
boston musicians who often have tried to hire the better cape musicians art often frustrated by the cape musicians reluctance to cross the bridge and have been known to say something like this:
"  you won't take a gig unless it is on sunday afternoon at 3pm and it is in your living room!!!"    so you see it is a pretty big accomplishment just that i will be driving over the bridge  to go to nyc.  a good way to start the year.
2.)  i studied with dave once about 10 years ago and then got out of touch.  it has always been on my agenda to keep in better communication.  this year i get it done.
3,)  dave is an amazing educator ... how can this not be a kick ass inspiring master class to start off the year with?
so at the end of this year when i list my accomplishments i will be able to say i went to thie masterclass in nyc
