you know, it's entirely possible that alb agrees with everything you guys are saying. his english isn't 100% and i notice with him and some other people, like nor, that because english is their 2nd language that sometimes things they are trying  to get across get interpreted wrong.

i believe that there's no use in counting numbers while playing.  what's the point?   but having time is another thing altogether- gotta have time.

i like what bill mays said- he doesn't count, he uses "belly time". feels it in his gut. that's how i do it.  

i do count while practicing crazy rhythms though, or at least i break it down which uses a form of counting.

gotta know how to count to work out some of those rhythms, but as time goes on, even the complex rhythms become automatic if enough time/effort is put in, at least for most people.
