stride piano is a captivating solo piano style anchored by the left-hand pattern of low bass notes that alternate with mid-range chords. using a transcription of harry connick's left hand on the tune "on the sunny side of the street" from his 1987 self-titled debut recording as a template, the stride left hand pattern is broken down into its component parts in this lesson.

master this solo piano style with the accompanying pdf practice sessions which will start you out with writing a stride left hand pattern and then guide you through improvising your own left hand stride pattern to the changes to three tunes commonly played in the stride style, "on the sunny side of the street", "summertime" and "stormy weather."

ok
well, i am only 59 years young, and not a classical pianist, but i did enjoy your coverage of shells.  : )
nice extension to the topic.
i'm 51 and do have a classical background, learned shells a long time ago, but this is a good lesson and a nice website.
btw, what is up with the glasses people are wearing these days???  lol
cool, jordo, i like that.  i'm going to play around with it
, examples:

c dorian -     bb major
c aeolian -    eb major
c phrygian -   ab major
c locrian -    db major
i've not been able to log in either.  however, after you saying you were sometimes logged in after the error message, i decided to try a few pages before it "timed out" and voila!  i'm in!  so perhaps the problem is that the sys fails to report that we are in fact logged in?

anyways, give it a try:)
haha!  now i can't log out!  that's what i git:)
thanks jordo.  can't wait to get off work and try this.
a nice easily digestible lesson for practice.
