im thinking of trading in my roland a90 ex and downgrading (in price, size and weight) to the kawai mp6.

does anyone have one of these and are you happy with it?

i'm looking for an 88-note weighted-action piano that doesn't require two people to carry and that has great acoustic and electric (rhodes) sounds. it must also be gig-friendly - ie: no complex digital menus that take 10 minutes to navigate just to change the reverb setting!

i have one, i love it.
it's really quick and easy to operate. it remembers settings and you can switch patches with one single click. effects, eq and piano voicings are convenient for sounding good in various acoustics.
it's really a great board for the money. a bit heavy.
thanks for your response, knotty. i now have the mp6! just did my first gig and wasn't 100% comfortable with the eq on the acoustic piano sound yet.

also, do you know how to save effects settings for the preset sounds, so that for instance you always get chorus with the electric piano sound, or the same amount of reverb without having to adjust it every time?
i was gonna say that for downgrading, in price and weight, one of the better sounding/feeling keyboards i've seen is the previa.  i think it even has speakers for those solo piano gigs without pianos.

drjazz, i'm pretty sure that's in the manual. system store or someting like that. you can save every setting so that it becomes the default.
also note that you can play with the effect and tweak the level. if you're having issue cutting through, the enhancer will help. you just gotta find the right level.
you can also change the voicing to more mellow or more bright. that will have a big impact, too.
