Information: james booker saved my life in 2012.

i tripped over him on youtube. the young german pianist luca sestak had listed him as a major influence, so i worked backwards from there. i became obsessed with him immediately, and so returned to the piano after twenty-five years away. (my musical history is pretty much limited to punk/blues guitar, and i never got real far with that.)

i've long dealt with those miserable 'usual suspects' that  derail so many creative folks, and seem at times to be their birthright to the point that they're part of that job description. abstinent from all of that for nearly two and a half years. the more i read about dr. james--henry butler tune--the deeper and more involved my fascination with him grew. we share a couple of demons.

if i'd not discovered him at that late date, and very sadly from beyond the grave, i might well have kicked off the coil. that's why i tell ppl that james booker saved my life, as pretentious as that might sound.

eff 'em if they can't take a musical reference.

i'm a woman, forty-nine this year, and aging well despite the hard road.

i want to be a sober, working player in a couple of years. if that doesn't come to pass, i want to keep on feeling keen anticipation close to joy whenever i lay hands on a baby grand.
