there is also 2 compact jazz cds that are really good. they gave me alot of ideas for bossas to work on. one is astrud gilberto and the other is just called the best of bossa nova.
jorge ben is another guy to check out. he combined brazilian and pop--there is this tune of his called, "take it easy my brother charles"--man, if you don't tap your foot and smile to that tune, you better check yourself into the hospital because there's something wrong with ya.
also, check out the caribbean jazz project--the 1st line up was dave samuels, paquito d'rivera and andy narell, but i think that has changed now and dave valentin is in the mix. good stuff  with a heavy jazz influence.
