room.
a guy can sing this song too, all you have to do is substitute "marilyn manson", "eminem" or "howard stern" for liz taylor and lana turner.
hi 7...

not sure if this link is working as it just opens up to a browser window but with the script missing... i tried printing the page and also opening then link by going through the "transcriptions" area but still no luck....

the other links in that area seem to work so it may be the file.. or just my over zealous windows xp....

time to talk
you need to get the adobe acrobat reader.

it's a free download at https://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
actually, i thought the song was originally written for a male, i've heard that version also.
well, i guess it was written for a female character to sing.
i've heard other versions, but my favorite is the nina simone used in the chanel commercial.  i have another recording of hers, but i don't like it as much.
to know about that kind of sissy stuff. lol
it became quite famous as a chanel no. 5 television commercial.
that's how i first heard of nina simone, in fact.
it's a different version than the one that's on the cd i have:  verve jazz masters 17 - nina simone.  i don't care so much for the version on this cd (1987 - hollywood's vine st bar & grill).  i think it's a newer recording, and not as cool as the older one.
i wish i could find the older recording...  do you know which one it is?
oh, and speaking of nina's greatest hits, her signature tune was "i loves you porgy", and she was quite famous for her own "showtune without a show", "mississippi goddamn".
i found an mp3 of the recording that i transcribed years ago within about 5 minutes online.

i bought the single (yes they still had singles back then) in 1990. so maybe the single i worked from was the 1987 version you refer to (or maybe not). i don't know and i don't have the courage to sort thru decades of accumulated garbage in the garage to try and see if i still have that little piece of vinyl.

maybe you could compare my transcribed solo against the version you own? if it's the same, then mine is the 1987 version. if it's different then mine must be the 1958 version.

or maybe ms simone used the same solo on both recordings ....
i found a eensy weensy mistake in the first transcription i uploaded:

the very last right hand note in the very last bar on page 3 should have been an f# (not an e).

i uploaded the corrected version to the transcriptions room and here it is again as an attachment.

sorry ...
just downloaded it i needed to update my version of acrobat...

thanks for the link...
i just uploaded the midi of the nina simone transcription over in the "transcription" room for people like me that are too lazy to read through sheet music without knowing first whether or not they like the song enough to even bother checking it out.

actually that's one of my biggest gripes with the sheet music uploads here, i'm only going to take the time to read through something if i already know it's worth the trouble.

any notation program good enough to make a decent score is also capable of making a passable midi file. so why not offer the folks here both and make everybody's life easier?

here's an attachment of the same midi file for those unable to find the "transcription" room:
i finally downloaded that and compared it to the recording i have.
yours must be the original recording -- the good one, from the chanel ad.
i've got to get that one.
kewl
her uptown lounge  album has a great "my baby just cares for me" rendition that i heard on sonic tap direct tv. maybe this is the older version? i don't the date of this recording.
i looked it up...1999
