i have receive many mails from remote countries asking for an example of salsa.
i have recorded a fragment of indestructible, an excitement guaracha by ray barreto, in a midi keyboard.  listen to piano comp as a rhythmic instrument with a tremendous syncope.
all of you may play it from “latin real book”. look for it in “books” room in this site..
you may find a midi file at “albetan’s area” “file list”.
there you will find also “how to play salsa”  and “how to improvise in salsa”
good luck and enjoy salsa.
There are no comments, leave a comment.
it may be a very strange music for  some non latin visitors.
mark pulse with foot while hearing salsa sample, two half note beats in each bar.
observe the great force of bass in fourth beat and in the fourth eight-note beat of  bar, and feel sincopation.
here piano is a rhythmic instrument injecting feeling to drums with an exciting sincope.
if you practice exercises in “how to play salsa” you will understand and feel this latin music.
don’t count, don’t think while playing salsa... only feel it and transmite excitation to your audience.
and here's me thinking salsa was something i dipped my nachos in...
hola suigeneris:
bienvenido a learnjazzpiano.
hi albetan:
i am happy learning latin rhythms with your files.
i need to learn merengue dominicano. is it posible to write something about that rhythm?.
i`m learning a lot of english in this site.
thanks in advance
ya there is mild,  midi and  hot salsa right?
hi mike,
¿ are you now dancing salsa? hot salsa? sabor!... azúcar!
i'm very happy with new features in ljp. "attach files" is fantastic!
do you think so?

hi suigeneris:
you are progressing a lot in your english.
i promise to  write a lesson about merengue dominicano for you and for other people that have requested it.
enjoy english, salsa and jazz in ljp.
hello rick:
salsa is something you dip your nachos in... you are right.
but also is a musical genre born in sixties in ny with a background of rumba, guaracha, guaguancó, montuno an other latin caribean rhythms.
in sixties dizzy gillespie did a latin jazz piece named "soul sauce".
enjoy salsa in your nachos and in your feet dancing with "sabor" or sauce feeling.
i know nor :-) i also tried to salsa dance once...it was a disaster, it got everywhere, in my hair, in my eyes...never again
i know albetan! :-) i also tried to salsa dance once...it was a disaster, it got everywhere, in my hair, in my eyes...never again
sorry about that...
hey albetan,

ragazzo
welcome ragazzo to ljp.

click on the personal rooms link in the halls menu on the left of your screen and visit albetan's area for some great files on many aspects of latin music.
