The perennial finger(ing question)
in your beginning modes and arpeggios page i cant figure out the fingering for the modal arpeggios specifically the fourth and fifth notes (ie cm7: b & c). playing the cm7 as a chord my normal fingering would be
1 2 3 5
c e g b
but to add the next c bringing the thumb around for it seems cumbersome. so now im playing
1 2 3 4 1
c e g b c
for the arpeggio and the former way for the chord, which sort of defeats the purpose by having two different methods for essentially the same thing. to add to the mix i can just roll my wrist in the above example and play the second c with my 5...but then thats hardly going to teach me good technique for when i want to smoothly move up the keyboard (hope your still with me here).
i realise theres many different methods that suit different people so would love to hear your opinion.

Volume 2 has 14 jazz piano exercises and tricks of the trade, and quite a bit of it is Calypso jazz piano related material, including some Monty Alexander and Michel Camilo style grooves. Jazz piano education is through the ears, but books like this can help.
Volume 3 contains 12 jazz piano exercises and explorations by the acclaimed jazz piano educator, pianist, author, and recording artist Tim Richards.
Tim wrote the well known "Exploring Jazz Piano" and "Improvising Blues Piano" books and has several others to his name.
Volume 4 is by Jeff Brent, a jazz pianist, composer, teacher, and author of "Modalogy" and other acclaimed jazz theory and education books. In this book Jeff shares detailed analysis of transcriptions of live performances. He covers everything from the shape of the songs to the tricks and licks he uses in improvised lines to the ideas behind his lush chord voicings.
