though he no longer posts here, for those who would like to hear the good doctor in action, check out dr. whack's debut release on victoria records (www.victoriarecords.net) titled i've got the world on a string (he uses the stage name of rick zelle when performing).

this is an excellent quartet recording (piano, bass, guitar, drums), outstanding musicianship by all, and some very tasty vocals by the doc!  (maybe he'll let me post a few 30 second mp3 clips to give you a taste of it).

while you're there, check out some other fine released by other st. louis piano legends like ray kennedy (john pizzarelli) and his brother tom on bass (steps ahead, dave weckl band), herb drury (who's written several mel bay piano instructional books), dave venn, kim portnoy and carolbeth true.  if there are any chase/maynard/ellis trumpet fans, check out jim manley's "spledor in the brass" cd (i think dr. whack plays on that too!).

unfortunately, they are only available by mail (no web orders) but don't let that stop you!!!
