has anyone here done this eg. leonard cohen style?
jazz seems like a creative way to frame one's poetry.

i once did a late-night performance with robert creeley, who draws on jazz influences in his poetry and (this was so good for morale) has worked with some big names - see for example https://wings.buffalo.edu/epc/authors/glazier/prose/creeley_70.html

as i recall i played round midnight, night in tunisia and i remember clifford - just him, me, a very nice piano and a highly attentive audience.  one of my cherished musical memories.
a lot of beat poetry was spoken over jazz instrumental backgrounds in the coffee house days.
back to the beginning

a voice at the end of the line
the memory of redwoods
a warm touch late at night
the fragrance of a fantasy
yearning for just one more kiss

you are
you are so much
you are so much more
much more than this

designer of our home
in the days that time has left
i think of you when i recall
a life that's too soon over with
but to linger i would be remiss

you are
you are so much
you are so much more
much more than this

the scribe of ancient rhyme
to his music i am drawn
his friends call him solomon
ancestor to us all
husband to so many brides

you are
you are so much
you are so much more
much more than this

more music to the ears - beautiful.

i want to say "waxing lyrical". where did that expression come from? the bard, perchance?
i remember creeley quoted a chinese saying:

if you go into a field and fall asleep,
you will be found in a field
asleep.

this can be quoted on any occasion, to fit any situation.  try it some time.

sid
with two syllables less it would be haiku
