working on an arrangement of "you will be my music"(if you haven't heard it, take the time to listen to it)_--sinatra has a good recording of it and a lot of other artists---i just love to sing it
decided that i wanted a harmonica to answer me after lines on certain verses--- improvisationally, i first thought about a flute, violin or concertina---
but i knew it had to be harmonica for the big solo on this one --yes there will be piano, contrabass, guitar but it's my vocal and the harmonica that will predominate the story telling of this piece of music----
exciting--- because i'm going to have him end the song with a harmonica solo that goes from every emotion he can well up inside himself and perform--i don't care how long he goes--i want him to just "no nuts" with emotion----ooooh, i'm gonna love it!
he will be in the dimmed blue light in a fedora hat with his solo--the final ending will be totally him and not me---just knew that was the way to do it----got a lot of work---
i do hope you will listen to some recording of it, if you haven't ever heard it.

Volume 1 of this educational jazz piano book contains 15 jazz piano exercises, tricks, and other interesting jazz piano techniques, voicings, grooves, and ideas Scot Ranney enjoys playing.

Volume 2 has 14 jazz piano exercises and tricks of the trade, and quite a bit of it is Calypso jazz piano related material, including some Monty Alexander and Michel Camilo style grooves. Jazz piano education is through the ears, but books like this can help.
Volume 3 contains 12 jazz piano exercises and explorations by the acclaimed jazz piano educator, pianist, author, and recording artist Tim Richards.
Tim wrote the well known "Exploring Jazz Piano" and "Improvising Blues Piano" books and has several others to his name.
Volume 4 is by Jeff Brent, a jazz pianist, composer, teacher, and author of "Modalogy" and other acclaimed jazz theory and education books. In this book Jeff shares detailed analysis of transcriptions of live performances. He covers everything from the shape of the songs to the tricks and licks he uses in improvised lines to the ideas behind his lush chord voicings.
