Energy
but i wanted to tell you something that you already know, singer/musician----but---important!
your "springboard" to success--happiness---or lack of it-- is only as good as the "energy flow" that is in your life and whether or not it is "balanced"
took me so long to learn this---but i "got it"--- "for life"
take a look at your daily life---is there a recriprocal "energy flow" in other words---are you giving easily, freely, lovingly, of that childlike precious artistic energy to another artist and is any other artist or artists---giving that to you??
in your personal, romantic life---same holds true.
hey, life is about imtimacy on all levels---and it's a lonely place without it--a place i won't stay---but i used to---largely because i had been spoiled with having that energy always in my life---but after my husband died in 2002---i admittedly was a bit "lost" and trying to save others---because i couldn't save him--
i was "out of balance"---we all get that way---of course--
we are just humans---but if you are a "gifted one" then you are a very special human that is needed---so needed---and if you are not having "riciprocal energy flow" in your artist life and your personal life----i don't have to know you to know "you ain't happy"
how do you get it?---go where it is---leave where it it not--- turn your world upside down to have it and to give it---don't demand it---if it ain't there---it ain't gonna be---so there!
i have it now---but i know better than to "try" to dredge it up--no no
those who see your gifts and have no jealousy or envy of them will give to you passionately, lovingly---no question about that
have you attracted "emotional vampires" "sucking" the life force out of you so you can't be creative and your only function is to "make their life better"-----well. if you allow that---you are dancin' to the maschocism tango" and remember "time is the fastest dancer" and you better get the h--- away from them----pronto!
i've done battle with them--but i won--and can recognize them---and there is this wonderful thing called "caller id and i don't pick up for them or allow them near my life anymore---
are you laughing much? is your life a "bad" "not ready for prime time" soap opera---do you gossip cause the only interesting thing in your life---- is other's peoples problems??
unless people are gossiping about you because you are "famous"---you are wasting precious energy that is not "success bound"---not possible! it's ok to have friends in low places---but not ok to have ambition to "walk in their shoes"---or to be impressed with their circumstance---if you are----success ain't courtin' you---and you will stay in the little dirty pond you are so impressed with----am i sure----you bet i am.
i'm writing this because a musician called me and asked me to help him---he was soooo unhappy and what i have written here applied to his life---so made me think about posting it on some sites where, just maybe---someone who is wonderful and surrounded by the "unwonderfuls"---will listen--
i don't write because anyone's listening---not really---i write because i'm a writer and never, never, monitor what i am writing---i just start and say what i'm thinking on the spot---a mistake?? i don't care---i am who i am---with no apologies---
here is my suggestion, if what i have said fits your situation--
starting today---walk away from whatever is "not recriprocal"---maybe tomorrow it will be---but when there is no "back and forth energy" stay away from it---you can be polite---but if you gotta "rumble"---then "rumble"---if you gotta be with this person---then---back away--from any negativity from them and keep your distance from them---they are a "non energy" for you----if they value you---they will offer the "olive branch" and sense what's wrong if they are meant to be in your life---if not---eliminate!!
hey,eliminations are necessary---absolutely---sometimes they are temporary and sometimes---permanent---but "nothin' from "nothin' is nothin"---and if you "hang" with it---nothin' is what you are gonna get"
seize the day---remember what i said "time is the fastest dancer" and it is----- it's on my side--- and i want it to be on yours---too---and it will---so--- "suck up" all the good energy that is there for you and give it back to that which gives to you---and walk away from that which can only "take" and leave you drained---and sad---
monitor the energy flow in your life regularly---don't accept less than what your gifts and you deserve----
to do so---is to "spit on your gifts which are devine" and invite those gifts to be disrespected and they are yours to protect---there----that oughta give you a visual image---to bring about change---
energy is "key" and we all know what it feels like when we lose our keys!

Volume 1 of this educational jazz piano book contains 15 jazz piano exercises, tricks, and other interesting jazz piano techniques, voicings, grooves, and ideas Scot Ranney enjoys playing.

Volume 2 has 14 jazz piano exercises and tricks of the trade, and quite a bit of it is Calypso jazz piano related material, including some Monty Alexander and Michel Camilo style grooves. Jazz piano education is through the ears, but books like this can help.
Volume 3 contains 12 jazz piano exercises and explorations by the acclaimed jazz piano educator, pianist, author, and recording artist Tim Richards.
Tim wrote the well known "Exploring Jazz Piano" and "Improvising Blues Piano" books and has several others to his name.
Volume 4 is by Jeff Brent, a jazz pianist, composer, teacher, and author of "Modalogy" and other acclaimed jazz theory and education books. In this book Jeff shares detailed analysis of transcriptions of live performances. He covers everything from the shape of the songs to the tricks and licks he uses in improvised lines to the ideas behind his lush chord voicings.
