i found the recent thread on standards that make you sound good to be  useful.
i occasionally get asked for classical stuff, so i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on classical stuff that's not too hard to learn (i'm a terrible reader) but sounds good.

chopin nocturnes, beethoven slow movements, some of the easier schumann pieces.
some of the simpler debussy pieces as well.  clair de lune is always popular.
if you're not such a great reader, get the classical fake book- hal leonard.  all you need are some light classical themes to add to your jazz repertoire.  chopin, beethoven, rachmaninoff, etc.  people always ask for the moonlight sonata at the so called upper class restaurants.  it's probably one of the most popular engagement tunes. you can learn these right away, then, maybe someday you can take the time to learn to read.
a couple of the chopin preludes come to mind - op 28 #4 em  and #20 cm.  you can download them free at https://www.sheetmusicarchive.net/ - just click on chopin and browse away
great thread! i asked for the info on standards that make you sound good - its good when the information is useful to others.

i am also keen to add some light classical themes to my jazzy repertoire (then i can play in the more upmaket places!).
