i told you guys that i was introduced to dick hyman by dick wellstood backstage at one of their concerts while i was living in switzerland in the 1980s.

mr hyman was quite busy poring over a chart with pencil in hand, he looked up for all of  1.5 seconds, said "hi" and went straight back to work.

i had met dick wellstood some ten years earlier in denver through hank troy (the ragtime pianist/silent movie accompanist who was one of my early teachers).

what a wonderful story to tell the grandkids, eh?

and what did i say to the illustrious mr hyman when i had my big moment? i think i said something stupid like "hi, man" (not to be confused with "hy, men").
