i have been looking for a way to record solo piano for a while. i've tried everything from expensive mics and preamps to very expensive studio time, all with less than satisfying results. so i started to look at the myriad software pianos out there and found galaxy pianos' vintage d. it is about $150 and it sounds amazing. it has a ridiculous array of settings to play around with like pedal noise and string sounds, brilliance and reverb. when blindfolded it compares very well with big name solo piano recordings from maybeck etc. i wanted to share this tremendous resource with my fellow jazz players. the site is:
